I had to say goodbye to my number one cat today. Kady took a turn for the worse on Wednesday. It’s true — you know when it’s time. I’ve never had to have a pet put down before. Scheduling her death was one of the most surreal things I’ve ever done, and waiting the last day and a half was a wrenching experience. Although the first three words that come to mind in describing her are “surly”, “neurotic”, and “lazy”, she could be subtly sweet, and always soft and warm. We had a lot of those sweet moments these last few weeks. Here is one of my favorite photos of her.

She was my first cat and I will always feel grateful for all she taught me. We love you and miss you already, pretty girl.

I'm sorry that Kady finally succumbed. It's hard watching a cat slip away.
I can feel myself starting to cry just thinking about it. I will give my kitties extra hugs and scratchings today. So sorry you're lost your little friend.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I had to put a beloved kitty to sleep a few years ago, and it is unspeakably hard. Cats are such a huge part of our lives.
That's very sad to hear. Over the years my family has said goodbye to several cats, but it's never easy, even when you know they don't have much quality of life anymore. Our time with them is too short, but they leave us with so many good memories.
So sorry to hear this. It's especially tough when it's your first cat.
I want to thank everybody who has offered their thoughts and sympathy. The support of this community of friends has really helped. That sounds a bit overwrought, I guess, but there's been a lot going on here that has made this situation especially trying for me. Thanks again.

I'm so sorry to hear that beautiful Kady is gone. I don't have a pet at the present time and I've never owned a cat but I have owned dogs and I know how distressing and heartbreaking it is to lose a beloved pet. I sympathize. Big hugs to you.
